Softball Recap: Pell City Finds Playoff Glory Versus Gardendale

With a playoff win on the line, Pell City rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Gardendale Rockets with a sharp 21-8 victory. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Reese Edwards looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pell City got a massive performance out of Kherington Keith, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Keith a new career-high. Olivia Humphreys was another key player, going 4-for-6 with seven RBI, three runs, and one double.

Pell City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Pell City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-13-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gardendale, their loss dropped their record down to 24-19-1.
