Basketball Recap: Canfield Skates Past Austintown-Fitch with Ease

Canfield won the last time they faced Austintown-Fitch and things went their way on Friday too. The Canfield Cardinals claimed a resounding 76-42 victory over the Austintown-Fitch Falcons. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Falcons are ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rocco Ferreri, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave Ferreri a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Waller, who earned six points.

Canfield is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Austintown-Fitch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Canfield Cardinals challenge the Howland Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canfield is facing Howland at the right time seeing as Howland is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will face off against Boardman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
