Baseball Game Preview: Sam Rayburn Rebels vs. Collinsville Pirates

The Sam Rayburn Rebels will venture away from home to take on the Collinsville Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Sam Rayburn didn't have quite enough to beat Whitewright and fell 5-4.

Meanwhile, Collinsville entered their tilt with Dodd City on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hornets a 23-0 shutout. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Collinsville's victory was their 26th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-5-1.

Sam Rayburn suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Collinsville in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
