Flushing extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-10. They came up short against the Fenton Tigers, falling 16-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.
Flushing saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Bush, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Kayla Forbes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
As for Fenton, they pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
On Fenton's side, Danielle Golen and Lily Churchman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Golen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Churchman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At the plate, Golen went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Churchman got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most RBI Golen has posted over her last 11 matchups.
In other batting news, Fenton got a massive performance out of Ally Turkowski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Olivia Ferrari was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Coming up, Flushing will take on Lapeer East at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fenton, they will face off against Lake Fenton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
