Softball Recap: Litchfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Litchfield can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Nokomis Redskins by a score of 6-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Purple Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Laynie Wyatt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lili Anne Readenour was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Litchfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Nokomis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Litchfield will face off against Pana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nokomis, they will take on Lincolnwood at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
