Basketball Recap: Timberlake Christian Takes a Loss

Timberlake Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christian Heritage Academy Knights. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the loss, Timberlake Christian still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Dowd, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The match was Dowd's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Sawyer Epps was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Timberlake Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Heritage Academy only pulled down five offensive boards.

Luke Mason was his usual excellent self, going 11 of 16 on his way to 24 points for Christian Heritage Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mason has scored at least a third of Christian Heritage Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Manning, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Timberlake Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Christian Heritage Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Timberlake Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on King's Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Timberlake Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. As for Christian Heritage Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dayspring Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
