Basketball Game Preview: Baker Hornets vs. McAdory Yellowjackets

The Baker Hornets and the McAdory Yellowjackets will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Baker knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully McAdory likes a good challenge.

Baker's tournament run continued when they took on Mortimer Jordan on Thursday. Baker was the clear victor by a 72-46 margin over Mortimer Jordan. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Baker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parrias Baker, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Cox, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McAdory). They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging an 85-58 victory over Sparkman. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Yellowjackets have posted since November 23rd.

Baker is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for McAdory, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-7.

Baker came up short against McAdory in their previous matchup back in January, falling 62-55. Can Baker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
