The Clearwater Tornadoes will take on the Seminole Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Clearwater is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Gulf a 1-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Tornadoes, who have now won six games in a row.
Clearwater's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Juleah Patterson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another was Jadah Nicholls, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Seminole, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Pasco on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warhawks have posted since March 26, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Hannah Sorenson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kaydin Whitenton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Seminole lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Clearwater's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Seminole, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season.
Everything went Clearwater's way against Seminole when the teams last played back in March, as Clearwater made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
