Soccer Game Preview: Overton vs. Crosstown

The Overton Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Crosstown Yetis at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Overton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Crosstown will come in with seven straight wins.

Overton fell victim to Memphis University School and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Owls, falling 3-0. That's two games in a row now that Overton have lost by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, Crosstown hadn't done well against Memphis Central recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Yetis came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 4-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Crosstown's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Memphis Central are ranked 236th).

Crosstown hit Memphis Central with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Raphael King (2), Jecsser Murillo Lara, and Solly Phillips.

Crosstown's victory bumped their record up to 11-0-2. As for Overton, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

Overton couldn't quite get it done against Crosstown in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 3-1. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
