Preview: Uintah Utes vs. Union Cougars
The Uintah Utes are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Union Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Uintah struggled with assists on Saturday (Green Canyon had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Uintah falling 55-36. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Green Canyon is ranked 27th).
Uintah's loss came about despite a quality game from Charlee Gilroy, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Zoey Glenn, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Union's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of North Sevier by a score of 52-49.
Uintah bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Uintah strolled past Union when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 53-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Uintah since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
