Football Game Preview: Alabama School for the Deaf Silent Warriors vs. Cornerstone Christian Eagles

The Alabama School for the Deaf Silent Warriors will take on the Cornerstone Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Alabama School for the Deaf is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind, who was ranked 14th in their home state at the time (Alabama School for the Deaf was ranked 23rd). The Silent Warriors blew past the Hornets 38-6 on Saturday. The Silent Warriors have beaten the Hornets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 46-41 to Jacksonville Christian Academy.

Defeat or not, Cornerstone Christian got some senior leadership from Colby Harrison and Jess Nelson. Harrison rushed for 196 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, while Nelson rushed for 175 yards and three scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Harrison is now averaging an impressive 112.8 rushing yards per game.

Cornerstone Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Copeland Puckett and Brody Barksdale. Barksdale has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played.

Alabama School for the Deaf's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Cornerstone Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
