Basketball Game Preview: East Central HomeSchool Patriots vs. Evangel Christian Lightning

East Central HomeSchool hasn't had much luck against Evangel Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the East Central HomeSchool Patriots will jump right back in to play the Evangel Christian Lightning at 11:30 a.m. East Central HomeSchool has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Friday, East Central HomeSchool beat Ezekiel Academy 77-69.

Meanwhile, Evangel Christian entered their tilt with Wiregrass on Friday with seven consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Kings 76-48. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Kings are ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evangel Christian's win came from a few key players East Central HomeSchool will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Asa Wagoner, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Cloud, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Evangel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

East Central HomeSchool has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points over those games. As for Evangel Christian, their record is now 24-1.

East Central HomeSchool was dealt a bruising 95-66 defeat at the hands of Evangel Christian in their previous meeting last Friday. Can East Central HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
