Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Eagles vs. Xavier Prep Saints

The Chaminade Eagles will take on the Xavier Prep Saints at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Chaminade will be strutting in after a victory while Xavier Prep will be coming in after a defeat.

Chaminade's tournament run continued when they took on Shadow Hills on Monday. The Eagles walked away with a 10-5 win over the Knights. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Chaminade got a great performance from Jackson Schroeder as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Schroeder also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Eagles are 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Eli Stephens was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Anthony Costa, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Xavier Prep has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.65 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 10-0 to Newbury Park. The Saints' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Xavier Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Chaminade, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
