Softball Game Preview: Fillmore Eagles vs. Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines

Fillmore is 2-8 against Bolivar-Richburg since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. Fillmore will be strutting in after a win while Bolivar-Richburg will be coming in after a defeat.

Fillmore proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 21) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklinville, sneaking past 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Mylee Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Morghyn Ross was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Tenlee Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Bolivar-Richburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-5 to Franklinville, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Bolivar-Richburg also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Sommer Beckwith gave up three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Cassidy Stives was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayna Thomas, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Fillmore's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Bolivar-Richburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Fillmore couldn't quite finish off Bolivar-Richburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
