Basketball Game Preview: Viera Hawks vs. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers

Viera is 0-7 against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Viera Hawks will take on the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Viera took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They breezed by Titusville to the tune of 58-28. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Viera's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Demi Reck led the charge by putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Laali Franco, who posted 16 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy). They took their game on Monday with ease, bagging a 77-21 win over Edgewood. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Viera's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Viera came up short against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 56-47. Can Viera avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
