Baseball Recap: Springfield Township Takes a Loss

Wissahickon hit Springfield Township with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 9-8. The Spartans have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Springfield Township got a good showing from James Conlin, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Conlin is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Ryan McGuckin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Kerper, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Springfield Township's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Wissahickon, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.

As of now, neither Springfield Township nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
