Southwest extends road losing streak to three

Recap: Southwest Roughriders vs. Arapahoe Warriors

The Southwest Roughriders were the 58-47 winner over the Arapahoe Warriors when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Southwest was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 36-35 to Arapahoe. Southwest just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.

Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyra Nelms, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Anastasia Gallegos, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Southwest were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Arapahoe was led to victory by Clara Hilker and Berkley Warner. Hilker scored seven points, while Warner scored 19 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Warner has scored at least 25% of Arapahoe's points.

Southwest bumped their record down to 3-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Arapahoe, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-4.

Southwest will be home for the holidays to greet Southern Valley on Tuesday. As for Arapahoe, they will head out on the road to face off against Northern Valley on Tuesday.
