Basketball Recap: Jersey O'brien's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mead over Omaha Christian Academy

Mead fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Omaha Christian Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Omaha Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since January 11, 2024.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jersey O'Brien, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals O'Brien has posted since back in December of 2024. Addison O'Brien was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Mead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Mari Keuck was the offensive standout of the match as she put up 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Omaha Christian Academy is 2-1 when Keuck posts five or more steals, but 1-17 otherwise.

Mead's loss dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Omaha Christian Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18.

Mead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Omaha Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Dorchester at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dorchester will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Omaha Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
