Baseball Game Preview: Plymouth Wildcats vs. Woodhaven Warriors

The Plymouth Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Woodhaven Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Plymouth is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Milford just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks.

Meanwhile, Woodhaven came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Thunderbirds 9-0. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Kaden Newsted tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jace Davis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Moritz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Woodhaven pushed their record up to 26-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Plymouth, their loss dropped their record down to 19-18.

Plymouth came up short against Woodhaven when the teams last played back in May of 2022, falling 3-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
