Football Game Preview: Parklane Academy Pioneers vs. Heritage Academy Patriots

Parklane Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Starkville Academy a 26-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won nine matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.

Parklane Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braxton Hughes, who threw for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. What's more, Hughes racked up 18 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. Another rusher making a difference was Tanner Kyzar, who rushed for 114 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Heritage Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 22-18 W against the Chiefs. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Chiefs on their field since October 7, 2022.

Parklane Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Heritage Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
