Basketball Recap: Wheatmore Beats Forbush for Their Third Straight Victory

Wheatmore waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 59-53 W against the Forbush Falcons.

Wheatmore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Starkey led the charge by going 8-for-10 en route to 25 points. Starkey continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Avery Ivey was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine assists.

Forbush's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Dudley, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds, and Matthew Bryant, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 18 points. The matchup was Dudley's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Bryant, who posted eight points and six boards.

Wheatmore now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Forbush, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Wheatmore will venture away from home to take on Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 55.7 points per game this season. As for Forbush, they have already played their next game, a 61-51 victory against Atkins on the 4th.
