Basketball Game Preview: St. Patrick's Irish vs. Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders

The St. Patrick's Irish and the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Patrick's took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 45-44 victory over Gothenburg.

Meanwhile, Grand Island Central Catholic earned a 43-35 win over Bridgeport on Saturday. The 43-point effort marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Braylon Wolfe and Gage Nein. Wolfe had a solid game and went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points. Meanwhile, Nein did his best for the losing side, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

St. Patrick's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
