Softball Recap: Leonardtown Raiders vs. St. Charles

In what's become a running theme this season, Leonardtown gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. Everything went their way against St. Charles as the Leonardtown Raiders made off with a 20-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Leonardtown considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Ashley Watson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Watson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Lindsay Hunter and Kendall Wathen did most of the damage at the plate: Hunter scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Wathen scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Charly Austin was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Leonardtown back to even at 4-4. As for St. Charles, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Leonardtown will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season. As for St. Charles, they are on the road again on Wednesday to play Great Mills.
