Alaina Diehl put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Arianna Young made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Evalina Chavez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Irvine, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-16.
Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Irvine, they will challenge JW North at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vaqueros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
