Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Piles Up the Points Against Cerritos

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against El Dorado, Mt. Carmel was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 68-41 win over the Cerritos Dons. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Sundevils as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mt. Carmel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makai Orje, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Orje a new career-high in boards. Tyler Humphrey was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points along with six boards and three blocks.

Mt. Carmel's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Cerritos, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Mt. Carmel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-40 win against Coronado on the 30th. As for Cerritos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-53 victory against Westview on the 30th.
