Softball Recap: Canutillo Has No Trouble Against Burges

Canutillo won the last time they faced Burges and things went their way on Friday too. Canutillo blew past Burges 14-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Giovanna Navarro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.

At the plate, Canutillo got a massive performance out of Isabella Salazar, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples were Salazar's first of the season. Khloe Borjas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Salazar wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Canutillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Canutillo's record now sits at 12-8-1. As for Burges, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-13.

Looking ahead, Canutillo will head out to challenge Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canutillo will need to watch out since Chapin has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Burges, they will be playing at home against Andress at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andress has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.95 runs per game on average), something Burges will no doubt try to take advantage of.
