Flag Football Game Preview: Ventura Cougars vs. Dos Pueblos Chargers

Ventura is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Dos Pueblos is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will host the Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Ventura 13.1, Dos Pueblos 7.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Ventura's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Buena, posting a 33-0 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Ava Ortman had another great game (as she tends to do), throwing for 292 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 55 yards. Mya Rodriguez was another key player, picking up 82 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ventura's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Amani King and Sophia Cota, who racked up five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, after a string of 12 wins, Dos Pueblos' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Marcos. The Chargers were red-hot offensively heading into the matchup (they scored no less than 31 points in the three contests prior), but the Royals' defense proved too tough.

Dos Pueblos' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 18-2. As for Ventura, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
