Staples-Motley came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-1 to the Hawley Nuggets. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Cardinals couldn't push the score so high this time.

Staples-Motley has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Hawley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-1.

While Staples-Motley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
