Baseball Recap: Judge Memorial Catholic Takes a Loss

If Judge Memorial Catholic was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Millard last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Morgan Trojans by a score of 9-8 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-6 back in March.

Miles Augustine was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Those two earned runs gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Isaiah Ibarra was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kohl Donelson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Judge Memorial Catholic dropped their record down to 6-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Morgan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Judge Memorial Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against Summit Academy on the 7th. As for Morgan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-8 win against American Leadership Academy on the 7th.
