Basketball Recap: Pawnee City Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Lewiston last Tuesday, Pawnee City came back down to earth. The Pawnee City Indians took a 63-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Defeat or not, Pawnee City got some senior leadership from Jett Farwell and Anthony Kling. Farwell went 11 for 20 on his way to 26 points and five boards, while Kling went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. Those 26 points gave Farwell a new career-high.

Exeter-Milligan/Friend found their leader in sophomore Grady Bresson, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bresson has scored at least a third of Exeter-Milligan/Friend's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Vossler, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Pawnee City's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

Pawnee City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-39 win against Linn on the 1st. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on McCool Junction on February 11th.
