Mount Carmel is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Milton Black Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Milton will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Mount Carmel extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The RED TORNADOES blew past Central Mountain 35-13. The RED TORNADOES' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Mount Carmel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylen Delaney led the charge by rushing for 107 yards and one score on only eight carries. Another back making a difference was Michael Kimsal, who rushed for 71 yards and one TD on only seven carries.
Mount Carmel didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Central Mountain to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from one players: Aidan Brokenshire, who each logged one passes deflected. Mount Carmel hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.36 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Mount Carmel's defense didn't let Kyle Everett, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Christian Bibbus refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Jason Klokis was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, while Milton put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Midd-West. The Black Panthers breezed past the Mustangs to the tune of 47-0. The Black Panthers have beaten the Mustangs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Mount Carmel better keep an eye on Montgomery Fisher. He was instrumental in Milton's win, rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 71 yards and a pair of TDs. Fisher was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards. JaCori Brown was another key player, gaining 144 total yards and a touchdown.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Mount Carmel, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Mount Carmel against Milton in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-26 win. In that contest, the RED TORNADOES amassed a halftime lead of 48-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
