            Baseball Recap: Salinas Cowboys vs. Palma Chieftains        
        
		
        
        
            Salinas extended their losing streak  to three  on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-14 in the process. They lost  8-2 to the Palma Chieftains. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Chieftains this season,  with their most recent  loss being a  12-0  defeat  back in March.
  Jordan Isla made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI.
As for Palma, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than five  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
On Palma's side,  Alan Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. He  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  Gonzalez has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate,  firing off two  home runs while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Gabe Serrano was  excellent,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with one  run and one  double.  Aiden Veliz was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  run and one  RBI.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Salinas is set to  face off against  their familiar foe St. Francis  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Palma will  challenge  rival Monterey  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
