Recap: Tohatchi Cougars vs. Cuba Rams
In what's become a running theme this season, the Tohatchi Cougars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Cuba as Tohatchi made off with a 77-57 victory. Winning may never get old, but Tohatchi sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Tohatchi got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josh Dawes out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Dawes pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Yazzie, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Tohatchi is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Cuba, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tohatchi will face off against Navajo Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Navajo Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Tohatchi likes a good challenge. As for Cuba, they will head out on the road to take on Santa Fe Indian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe Indian will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
