Baseball Recap: Parkway Central Gets the Win

Parkway Central hadn't done well against Fort Zumwalt West recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Colts narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Jaguars 6-5. This was payback for the Colts, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Parkway Central got a great performance from James Wesolich as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, Wesolich posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Colin Applebaum was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Fleck, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Parkway Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Fort Zumwalt West, their loss dropped their record down to 24-8.

Coming up, Parkway Central will head out to take on Lindbergh at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fort Zumwalt West, they will welcome Marquette at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
