Softball Recap: McGuffey Comes Up Short

McGuffey was the 4-2 winner over Jefferson-Morgan when they last played one another back in May of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Highlanders took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets on Tuesday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makenna Crothers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Sidney Dobrzynski made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Klages, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double.

McGuffey now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

McGuffey wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-1 win against South Side on the 31st. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 defeat against Waynesburg Central on the 31st.
