Basketball Recap: Flora Takes a Loss

Flora played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 63-18 loss at the hands of the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians. The Wolves have struggled against the Indians/Lady Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Carlyle had a senior duo take command as Sophia Hoffmann went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and three steals and Lera Schmeink went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. Schmeink's afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meghan Edwards, who posted eight points.

Flora's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Carlyle, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Flora will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Clay/Clay City at 6:15 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for Carlyle, they will venture away from home to challenge Breese Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Breese Central has won four straight at home, while Carlyle won seven straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
