Basketball Recap: Gonzaga Prep Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gonzaga Prep can now relate to. They fell 78-65 to the Chiawana Riverhawks on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (55), the Bullpups still had to take the loss.

Kaia Foster continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chiawana, shooting 6-for-11 from deep and dropping a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Foster a new career-high in points. Baylee Maldonado was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten assists.

Gonzaga Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Chiawana, the victory (which was their 21st in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Looking ahead, Gonzaga Prep will host Ferris at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Gonzaga Prep's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Ferris has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Chiawana does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
