Basketball Game Preview: Ellinwood Eagles vs. Central Plains Oilers

Ellinwood hasn't had much luck against Central Plains recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ellinwood Eagles will take on the Central Plains Oilers. Ellinwood will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Ellinwood strolled past Hoisington with points to spare, taking the game 52-34. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Cardinals are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Central Plains beat St. John 35-28 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Oilers.

Ellinwood's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Central Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2-1.

Ellinwood suffered a grim 54-32 defeat to Central Plains in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Ellinwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
