Central proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Narragansett Mariners 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Knights' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jonas Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Central's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maikel Soriano, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Central's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Narragansett, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to square off against Ponaganset at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Narragansett, they will head out to face off against Westerly at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mariners 2, the Bulldogs 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
