Basketball Recap: Union Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kenzy Ogden and Glory Ellis

Union lost against Shenandoah back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. 2025 welcomed the Union Rockets with a 46-25 loss courtesy of the Shenandoah Raiders. The Rockets were down 46-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Union's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Glory Ellis, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven blocks, and Kenzy Ogden, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Ellis has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times she's played.

Leading Shenandoah to victory were Gabbi Patrick and Kim Farmer. Patrick almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Farmer went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and five steals. What's more, Patrick also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Khloe Goble, who posted six points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Union has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Shenandoah, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Union will square off against Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shenandoah, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
