Volleyball Recap: Leyton Warriors vs. Garden County Eagles

Leyton put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Garden County Eagles. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24.

Shawnee Gamble paced Leyton's offense, picking up seven kills. Gamble got some help from Zaili Benish and her 16 assists. Ella Haley controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Garden County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ridglyn Stanczyk, who had ten kills, six digs, and two blocks. Stanczyk is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in the last 20 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Christiansen, who had 12 digs.

Leyton's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-0. As for Garden County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-5.

Leyton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Garden County has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Creek Valley on the 25th.
