Volleyball Recap: Berwick Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Berwick waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Hazleton Area Cougars as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Berwick never let Hazleton Area on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.

Berwick was led to victory by Angie Colone and Julia Rauch. Colone had 13 kills, 11 digs, and three aces, while Rauch had eight digs and two aces. Colone is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season. Grace Robbins was another key player, getting 13 kills, three digs, and one block.

Berwick's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Hazleton Area, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Berwick will take on rival Wyoming Area at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hazleton Area is set to challenge their familiar foe Greater Nanticoke Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
