Recap: Wamogo Regional Warriors vs. Northwestern Regional Highlanders
After a string of three wins, the Wamogo Regional Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 50-39 to Northwestern Regional. While losing is never fun, Wamogo Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Northwestern Regional is ranked 15th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Patrick Weaving, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Weaving is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tom Smart, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Wamogo Regional's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Northwestern Regional, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Wamogo Regional will square off against Shepaug Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Shepaug Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Northwestern Regional, they will be playing at home against Housatonic-Wamogo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Housatonic-Wamogo comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
