Softball Game Preview: Strasburg-Franklin Tigers vs. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints

Strasburg-Franklin is a perfect 10-0 against Tuscarawas Central Catholic since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Saints at 5:00 p.m. Strasburg-Franklin will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Friday, Strasburg-Franklin made easy work of Hillsdale and carried off a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Miley Reifenschneider spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Strasburg-Franklin got a massive performance out of Olivia Spidell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Spidell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Gilkerson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Strasburg-Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsdale only posted an OBP of .200.

Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Central Catholic fell victim to Minerva and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 12-0. The Saints have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Strasburg-Franklin's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Strasburg-Franklin was able to grind out a solid win over Tuscarawas Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April, winning 5-1. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
