Basketball Game Preview: Leadore Mustangs vs. Watersprings

Leadore is 0-10 against Watersprings since January of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Leadore Mustangs will face off against Watersprings at 3:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Leadore turned things around against Grace Lutheran on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-46 win over the Royals.

Leadore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mateus Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Foster, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Watersprings entered their tilt with Sho-Ban on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Chiefs 65-40. Given Watersprings' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Sho-Ban is ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Watersprings' victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Leadore, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Leadore was dealt a bruising 67-27 defeat at the hands of Watersprings in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Leadore was down 42-6.
