Softball Recap: Westminster Sets Scoring Season-High Against Costa Mesa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westminster). They blew past the Costa Mesa Mustangs 21-10 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Westminster let Jocelyn Aguilar and Naomi Miranda run wild. Aguilar got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Miranda fired off three triples, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Aguilar has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Perry, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Westminster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Westminster and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Costa Mesa, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Westminster wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-4 victory against Santa Ana on the 4th. As for Costa Mesa, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-3 defeat against Tustin on the 4th.
