Salpointe Catholic's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Nogales. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while the Apaches are ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salpointe Catholic's one-goal win came courtesy of Jose Gutierrez-Pena, who's now up to 11 this season.

Meanwhile, Mica Mountain narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Walden Grove 2-1.

Salpointe Catholic's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those nine games. As for Mica Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 9-5-1.

Salpointe Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Mica Mountain when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 2-0. Will Salpointe Catholic repeat their success, or does Mica Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
