Soccer Game Preview: Indian River vs. Hickory

Indian River hasn't had much luck against Hickory recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Braves will head out on the road to square off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Hickory took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Indian River, who comes in off a win.

Indian River will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Thursday, then bounced right back against Norview on Monday. The Braves' defense stepped up to hand the Pilots an 8-0 shutout. Indian River might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

Despite a strong season so far, Hickory has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Grassfield.

Addison Wall and Kayleigh Belton scored both of Hickory's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Hickory's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4-2. As for Indian River, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Indian River might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Hickory when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Braves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
