Basketball Recap: Gallatin County Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Gallatin County and Meridian squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Gallatin County had to settle for second. They were dealt an 85-53 loss at the hands of the Meridian Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th in Illinois, while the Bobcats are ranked 215th in Illinois).

Meridian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AJ Flenoid led the charge by dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. The contest was Flenoid's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Colin Monan was another key player, putting up 18 points along with five assists and three steals.

Gallatin County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Meridian, their victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-8.

As of now, neither Gallatin County nor Meridian have any future games scheduled.
