Basketball Recap: Brownell Talbot Takes a Loss

After flying high against Parkview Christian last Tuesday, Brownell Talbot came back down to earth. The Brownell Talbot Raiders fell 54-44 to the Weeping Water Indians on Thursday. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 58-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Brownell Talbot lost, don't look at Abbi Gibbs. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Gibbs is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Avery Nichols, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Kalison Miller was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 19 boards for Weeping Water. With that strong performance, Miller is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Kallie Brack was another key player, putting up five points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Brownell Talbot's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Weeping Water, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-7.

Brownell Talbot has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 victory against Parkview Christian on the 25th. As for Weeping Water, they will head out to challenge Sterling at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
